If you plan to visit the Oak Apple Run this coming Saturday and want to relax after it's over, why don't you plan to see a "Comedy Magic Show" by Gordon Russ at the underground, 110 S. Main Street, upstairs next to Hilzingers Hardware?
Russ is a local magician, having grown up in Madison Heights. He has traveled to Russia, China, Japan, Germany, England, Australia and many other countries, making children of all backgrounds and nationalities laugh.
I first met Russ when he joined the Boys & Girls Club of Royal Oak as a child and was a member of a magic class at the club. He became
enthralled with magic. His father was an amateur magician, and Gordon learned all he could about the art. He became so good that he ran a magic class at the club and eventually branched out on his own.
Tickets for the show are $5 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. The show starts at 1 p.m. and will run from 45 minutes to an hour. You can purchase your seat by calling Mike Foydel at the Wunderground, 546-1123, or at the door if they are not sold out.
Prepare to be amazed at what Russ and his trusty sidekick, Rocky the Raccoon, who have traveled the globe in search of laughs, have in store for you. Russ is a master of audience involvement. He even invents "magic on the spot" with most ordinary objects imaginable.
"Magic is a serious business, but the main idea is fun. I want everyone to be smiling," said Russ. Russ also performs at Mr, B's Food & Spirits, 423 Main Street, in Rochester every Thursday night from 7-9 p.m. He's at Roger's Roost Restaurant every Friday and Saturday from 6-9 p.m. and on
Sunday from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The restaurant is located at 3362 Schoenherr in Sterling Heights.
Russ performs for church groups, library programs and parties, and does an outstanding job.
For additional information on his shows, call 879-1943 or 544-2636.
